Santa should bring her a lump of coal this year for what she did yesterday! The first part of class went well. But then I had her in a down in the training center while Lynne and I were talking. One of Lynne's "trainers-in-training" walked in to sit down and Lexi barked, jumped up and nipped her. She didn't do anything but cause a small bruise thank goodness. I felt absolutely horrible! Right after that we went to work, hard. After explaining to Lynne about Lex trying to herd Smudges around constantly, and some other problems we were having, we opted to try some counter-conditioning in hopes that we just need to get her herding drive under control. She started to do better as the night went on, but I need to start taking her places and working on her focus while people walk by. Hopefully it all works! I've never had a dog with so much drive so this is all new waters for me. I keep reminding myself this is exactly what I wanted...a dog with a lot of drive...and that's what I got! I just need to figure out how to harness it!
