TSO, Snow, and more

TSO was totally amazing. Front row seats were AWESOME!!! Robby didn't like it because the lights were right in his eyes at times, but that didn't bother me! Al Pitrelli was right in front of us for most of the concert (yay!) It was so awesome, you get a lot more personal view of the concert from front row. At the beginning, Al looked down towards the first/second row and was warming his hands because "it's freezing!!" Angus was being his usual self and yelled "What's up?!" during a few of his center-stage moments. Just a totally awesome experience.
Work was really busy last week, trying to get ready for the 13th Month which started today (and I realized I forgot to pass on the information for lunch today...haha, oops! One of the sales managers called and asked me what was planned a little bit ago.)
The snow we have gotten is amazing. I really didn't expect anything like this, and compared to last year's Christmas Day record high of 76...! Yep, it's Oklahoma for sure. Most of the dogs are enjoying the weather, especially Cloud. Skye plays in it if she doesn't see you watching her. Lexi is just concerned where he ball is. There's been a few times it's gotten kicked into a drift and she's had to go digging for it. Holly isn't sure what to think, and has taken a couple nose-dives into the drifts!
Robby and I went out to rescue my aunt and finish getting her home Christmas Eve because of the weather. That was about a 2-hour trip to go a total of about 20 miles, there and back. When we pulled in the neighborhood there was an SUV stuck in the drifts, so Robby dropped me off and went back to help pull her out.
We spent yesterday shoveling a lot of the driveway, playing with the dogs, and watching movies. We both fell asleep on the couch while watching Hamlet...except I ended up watching the first half while Robby slept, and then I dozed off right as he was waking up and he watched the last half! Go figure.
The dogs enjoyed their Christmas gifts. Each one got a puppy-safe rawhide chewie, the big dogs each got a stuffed toy, and Holly got a rope toy with a teether bone on it. The cats each got a Christmas catnip toy. I don't think they've paid much attention to it, yet. Having fun playing with their other Christmas toys I scattered out a few weeks ago.
I had made plans to pick mom up and take her shopping with me today, but that got scrubbed because of the weather. I think Robby and I are going to Wal-Mart and PetSmart to do some shopping tonight, though. I need to get some stuff for the rabbit. I believe we're still going to go look at them tomorrow. We're getting a baby holland lop -- there are about three to choose from and the pictures are just adorable. Can't wait to see which one we end up with. The cage was supposed to be delivered on Thursday, but because of the weather, that was delayed to Monday. I'll just set up a temp cage in one of the extra dog crates for the night. Pumpkin has been laying on my lap while I've been typing this whole thing, just purring away. There's someone who wants Lizzie, so we're probably meeting them tomorrow. The cats don't like each other and we couldn't decide which one to part with, so I put them both up and decided we would keep whoever was left. Ends up that will probably be Pumpkin, which I'm happy with. She's such a good kitten and Holly just loves playing with her, still.

One month later...!

Ok - so it'd been busy!! I didn't realize I hadn't posted in over a month. Dogs are doing well -- Lexi and Cloud (especially) have taken to guarding Skye, now. We caught Cloud watching over Skye a few weeks ago -- too funny.
Holly is awesome. We've started her in puppy class with Lynne - she's doing well. Finally walking like a little trooper on the leash. But, she is still learning not to be a little pirannah puppy. Whenever I'm off and running errands, she gets to go with me. Typically that involves a trip to PetSmart and if we find something on sale, then miss priss gets a goody. Today we bought two stuffies and a bag of puppy-safe chewies. They had their Christmas stuff 50% off. Still trying to figure out an ILP name for her...we certainly have time, but I like planning early. Likely going with a TSO themed name.
Work is going well -- love my new boss. The store has definitely taken a positive turn since he's been here. We had our Holiday Party last Sunday and it was amazing. The committee really pulled together to have a great pary, we had pretty high attendance, and enough food (which I was really worried about!) I also won Store Champion at our last quarterly communications meeting. Really cool surprise and definitely a confidence booster in my position. I had kept hearing from various people that I was doing a good job, but now I know for sure I have been, lol. Speaking of work, I bought a new car there yesterday. Robby is taking my truck and we're selling his old Monte Carlo that we got as just a temporary car this summer. My new car is an 05 Mustang GT -- it's a blast to drive! And yea, it's red. I keep getting reminded of that! I couldn't resist the deal, though. Super associate discount, great options, crazy low miles for the model year, awesome sound system, sweeeeet sounding exhaust system, yep...it's FUN! I heard from at least three other associates that they were thinking of buying it themselves...but I beat them to it!
TSO concert is Sunday! I am super-excited, but certainly better watch my scream level this year! In anticipation of the event, I lost my voice Wednesday, haha. Still don't have it back, so I'm headed to the doctor in a bit to get some meds.

Welcome Miss Holly!

Robby and I added to our fur-family yesterday. We brought home a cute little pembroke welsh corgi. So far she's doing really well...the dogs don't mind her and Pumpkin thinks she's fun to pick on...but Holly got her back this evening. Now for the pics...!

And another week is over

Pretty crazy week.

We had a temporary LGM (location general manager) in this week. We're being told we'll have a new permanent one hired by the end of the month. Let's hope so! However, I did like his temporary LGM. He taught me a lot about my position in only a few days! Just hope that the next one is just as good.
"Pumpkin" - the stray kitten - is doing good. She's starting to warm up to us. She'll still hiss when we walk into the room, especially if we startle her, but we can walk right up and pick her up and she starting purring up a storm. She was even perched on my shoulder for about 20 minutes this week while I was on the computer. Toooooo cute! Lizzie can't decide if she wants to like her or not, yet. Skye just wants to give her kisses...and the other dogs haven't met her, yet. I want her to get bigger first. I did find out while petting her one day that she's had her tail broken. Poor thing. Doesn't bother her any and seems like it's fused back with a little crook in it.
Made my way down to Norman to start volunteering at Second Chance. I'm really excited about it and loved my first day down there. I only stayed for a few hours because I was getting really hungry. I had always thought about volunteering at a shelter/rescue - but Carmax jump-started it for me. I found out that our Foundation will donate $10 for every hour I volunteer as long as the organization is a 501(c)3. I'm trying to get Robby to go with me - but he says he can't take them all home, so he doesn't want to go. lol -- I'll get him down there eventually. Today I cleaned up some kitty areas, walked three dogs (an 8 month old GSD/Lab mix, a pointer, and a standard poodle,) then trimmed nails on about seven cats. Folded some laundry too. I got the hours that I can volunteer -- so I'll be able to start going down quite a bit on the weekends or during the week if I'm off one day.

Saaaaaturday!

Went to Hillcrest this morning and did statements. I picked up a cat carrier while I was there because mine is at mom & dad's house for some reason.

Left Hillcrest and went to Petsmart to get a couple cans of smelly cat food and a dual food/water dish, then headed up to Robby's work.

The past few days they've had a kitten running around the front lot area. Now, a refresher for those who aren't familiar. Robby works downtown. Across from the Ford Center...at the corner of Robinson & Reno. Can we say...BUSY BUSY area?! Not to mention there have been several events going on this week and going on into next week. Our biggest concern was the kitten going into traffic and getting run over. Goal number one was to not let that happen.

Robby had mentioned that kitten looked to be around 2 months old. When I pulled up and started getting the food ready, I heard it meowing. So I wandered around until I found it sitting on the curb a few cars down from me. As soon as it saw me, it darted away. But, I saw it long enough to see that it was younger than 2 months.

Larry, one of the salesmen up there (who also has an awesome book coming out next month...can't wait to read it) grabbed all of the keys for the cars the cat has typically been under and helped me open the hoods on all of them and look underneath. We were honking horns, shaking the cars, etc to see if it ran underneath them.

No luck there -- so I sat the food out where I had initially seen the cat, put the crate in another spot, and then went and hid out in the showroom for awhile -- sitting in a spot where I could see the places the kitty had typically been going. Fast forward a couple hours...people were starting to leave the event at the Ford Center so I decided to go out and sit on the curb. I had a feeling the cat wasn't up at the new cars, but rather out by some customer cars around where I had the food. So I sat down on a curb just across the parking lot and waited.

Forty-five minutes later I hear it meowing so I start walking around trying to figure out where it's coming from. I ran into Larry, who was coming back from lunch, and talked to him about his book. I happened to glance just over the banner promoting it and saw the kitten eating out of the bowl. Larry stayed behind the banner and I walked around to the other side.

It took about 15 minutes of each of us inching up slowly, stopping and letting the kitten come out and eat some more, then getting closer. I was finally able to grab it and after a little bit of a wrestle, I had it secure in my hands. Popped the little one in the crate and off we went.

It is in the front bedroom right now hiding behind the big stuffed bears -- but there's a litter box, plenty of fresh food and clean water, and some warm, soft bedding for it. I've been sneaking in there every now and then to check on it.

That's all for now -- I'll try to put a couple pics of it up later once it doesn't immediately run off when it sees me.

Rain, Rain, go away...

Because I hate cleaning muddy paws and the dogs get cabin (er...crate) fever! No one likes the rain now -- Sonny was the only one who would fight to stay out in it. Skye pouts, Lexi huddles under the tree, Cloud & Rainy...well, they do their own thing, but when it's time to come in, you better have the door open! Work is going absolutely, positively, awesome! I LOVE my new position. I have just the right amount of work, a ton of responsibilities, and from what I've heard (both direct and word-of-mouth feedback...) the managers and associates love that I am the new MA. The office required a ton of clean up and I'm still reorganizing things, including moving certain file cabinets in and out, shredding files, etc.
We have two new tiny additions to the house. They're not named, yet - but - they are finches. A society and a zebra. Totally adorable and have the cutest little noises. The dogs have stopped bugging them as much -- the cat is a different story....which leads me to this...
The first night we brought them home, we had bought a temporary cage until I could locate a big flight cage for them. Well, we set the temp cage on top of one of the smaller curio cabinets we have. Lizzie jumped up on the TV stand and was watching the birds. Next thing we know, she takes a flying leap at the cage, grabs onto the side, knocks the cage to the floor...and somehow throughout this whole series...the cage doors fly open and the birds are loose in the house. Robby grabbed Lizzie, I grabbed Skye (who was trying to catch the birds...) We got Skye put outside to keep her out of the way. In the mean time, the birds are flying around the kitchen and dining room (which is where the dog crates are...since it's right next to the back door.) They sit on Lexi's crate, fly INTO Cloud's crate...and let me tell you...I am SOOOOO glad my dogs know and respect "Leave It." Robby and I both shouted it at the same time when we saw what the birds were doing - so the dogs just sat back in their crates and wouldn't even look at the birds. The society was easy to catch, but the zebra took some work. We finally found him hiding behind the fridge! Luckily not 48 hours later, I had found a flight cage. So we got them transferred there. They are so happy in it! And there's no chance of the cat letting them out again. =)

Update. Finally.

So I've been busy! What's new? lol

Went to Tulsa yesterday for training on my new position. It was pretty good and I got a lot of questions answered. Now to just get into work tomorrow and try to put those answers to use.

Dogs are enjoying the rain and are showing it very well. They come in covered in mud every time. Rainy stays out with Skye at night. Her spot is on the loveseat. Cloud gets to play during the day while we're home - he's such a lovebug. He'd be out at night as well, but he's going through a chewing stage right now. Lexi, well - she's just Lexi. She gets bed privileges every now and then.

School is crazy - ready for it to be over. It's a heck of a lot of work. Don't think I'll be doing two classes per fast track again.

Got my Glamour Shots pics in the mail today. Goooorgeous! I love how they turned out.

Three day weekend!

So I am in the middle of my three day weekend. It's been productive and fun thus far. Yesterday Robby and I went out to the fair and walked around. I booked a Glamour Shots photo shoot for next Sunday. They had a special with no sitting fee and a free 10x13 portrait. Figured why not -- I had always wanted to give it a try. We'll see how it goes. We also stopped by Home Depot and picked up a gallon of red paint. It's been fun painting the front bedroom and I put the second coat on this morning. We're down to just needing to paint the ceiling and possibly the trim - we're still undecided on it.

Busy...Busy...Bu...you get the idea.

(Cloud)
So - going into my third week of school. There's an insane amount of work, though. I'm keeping caught up in my leadership class fairly well, but humanities...I have fallen behind on already! Not too bad, I just haven't done my essays. I already told the prof I would be turning them in late, so hopefully it doesn't affect my grade too bad. They're just so dang hard. A minimum of five pages long...with a minimum of five resources...yikes! And two of those...every two weeks.

I picked up Sonny's ashes today. They came in a lovely wooden box. I was very surprised.

(Lexi, Rainy, Cloud, and Skye)
On a lighter note...the other dogs are all doing well. We took the loveseat from mom & dad's house and put it in our bedroom. Rainy has claimed it as "her's" and stretches out on it before anyone else can climb up there. Everyone got baths over the weekend so they're all nice and clean smelling...and the pyrs are nice and white!

(Rainy!)
Work is staying busy -- I'm on four 10 hour days every other week so I can have more time to do school work. The opposite week has a weird schedule, but it puts me at having 2 1/2 days off, instead of just two, so I won't argue with that. There is a possibility I may be transferring to the MA (management assistant) position within the next few weeks. I'm going to discuss the position more with the current person, plus my two bosses (my manager, and the LGM) tomorrow and see if I can get the go-ahead to put in my transfer request. The hours would be better, and likely the pay too.
(Scenty's September Warmer of the Month)
Scentsy is awesome - absolutely love the company and the products. Still trying to get some promo stuff out there right now, but orders are slowly starting to develop. The hardest part is getting started!

'Til we meet again...

Champion Con-Te Patent Pending, CGC
February 23, 1999 - August 27, 2009
"SONNY"

We said goodbye to Sonny just four days short days after his ten and a half month birthday...and directly on my birthday. His legs and his spirit finally gave out on him after a short fight with who knows what. A trip to the emergency clinic that Sunday had shown that he had all of sudden lost all reflexes below his spine. Despite medication after medication in that short period of time, we only had a few days left together. I hand fed him the night before - he ate all he could before finally giving up and turning his head away. A mere cup of food. Thirty minutes to eat. The next morning he collapsed in the yard while trying to stand up (after we carried him outside) and he never even tried to lift his head. He raised it just enough to grab a piece of cheese we had taken out to try and encourage him, but that was it.

Took him in to see Doc at 9am before any of the other clients would begin arriving. Robby had carried him out to the truck and then carried him inside to Doc's...Sonny acted like a bag of potatoes. We layed him on the table and talked to him. Didn't take long for that evil hot-pink solution to take effect. I think I layed on top of him for thirty minutes afterwards just holding him and crying into his fur.

Tell Tim hello and I'll see you over the bridge in the future.

Take a bow...

Uppppdate!

I didn't realize it has been so long since I posted!

Not much has gone on except staying busy at work and getting ready for school to start Monday. Beginning this coming week, I'll be working four-10 hour days at work so I'll get three days off to rest and do school work.

The latest, greatest news though is that I am now an Independent Consultant for Scentsy! I'm super excited. Finally a product I have no problems promoting. It's super-great for homes with kids and pets...or for anyone who hates matches (me!!) My website is www.scentsy.com/nomatches - you can order straight from there!

Sunday = Fun Day!

We slept in this morning and then decided to go ahead and run to the grocery store before the afternoon and evening crowds hit.

Bad idea walking down the toy aisles at Wally-World...we each got a 50 cent kite, lol.

Fast forward to this evening and we played frisbee in the backyard for a bit before heading out to the front to fly our kites. I had one that was "Clubhouse Disney" - with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy in a hot air balloon....and Robby's was the Blue Angels. We had almost every little kid on this block standing at the edge of their driveways watching the kites and begging their parents to go fly one, lol. Poor kiddos.

A couple times ours would go up over the house enough for Skye to see them and start barking - it was kinda cute.

Off again tomorrow, yippee!

Ex-Pen Full of Dogs

Robby let everyone in last night while I was at work and decided to let them all corral in the ex-pen for a bit. He took some pics, so here they are...!
Everyone trying to find a spot to lay down...(and Lexi giving Sonny kisses, awww)
Well, everyone but Cloud!
The "Princess" (Skye) gets let out and Cloud finally settles into a spot.

Almost the weekend...

I close tonight with Lindsey -- those nights are always fun. We have productive conversations. Hopefully we can discuss some issues I'm having with a co-worker, though. We'll see how it all pans out.

Dogs are doing awesome -- we've been letting Cloud stay out at night and aside from him nudging us at first, he finally lays down at the foot of the bed to go to sleep. Lexi and Rainy are still in the ex-pen together - they're always laying the same way, it's so funny. I woke up this morning to them wrestling around and playing with the kong...they moved the ex-pen around a little bit, lol.

I got one textbook in the mail yesterday. I've been finding them on Ebay - sooo much cheaper! Just ready for classes to start up.

Sitting here listening to the rain...left the dogs out in it. haha. Sonny loves it, but the others...not so much -- they stay huddled under the trees usually. But, our trees are so thick right now, there's hardly a drop of water underneath them.

and more...

So, I finished looking at my Humanities class to see what we'd be covering.

Yep....

First two weeks - three chapters
Second two weeks - SIX!!!! chapters
Third two weeks - four chapters
Fourth two weeks - four chapters

Yikes.

I love upper level courses.
I love upper level courses.
I love upper level courses.

O....M....G....

So. School starts August 24th. Take note (especially mom and dad, lol!)

Just started looking at the assignments that I will be doing for my first set of classes. Yea. lol - I'm in for it.

Here's just a glimpse....

My leadership class:
First two weeks - cover three chapters (read, quizzes, discussion, part one of course project.)
Second two weeks - cover four chapters (read, quizzes, discussion, part two....)
Third two weeks - cover FIVE chapters (you get the idea...part three...)
Fourth two weeks - cover three chapters (done.)

And it gets worse in my humanities class...

So far, I know I will have to write two 5-page essays every two weeks. Holy #@*)(*

I think I'm going to live on my computer and with my nose in a book.

Who knows what to expect the second half of the semester -- those classes haven't posted yet.

Work...school...sleep...

It's Saturday...yay!

Finally a day off...and just in time. Work has been absolutely horribly busy. That's a good thing, yes - but exhausting! Plus, auction is Monday...ooooh yay....hah.

The dogs are all doing well - Lexi and Rainy are liking staying in the ex pen together. Cloud got some free time in the bedroom with everyone else last night. We were going to leave him out, but he was so excited he kept going from one side of the bed to the other and nudging Robby and me with his huge nose! So, we put him up so we could get some sleep. I think we'll try again tonight.

Been staying out each night and throwing the frisbee around til dark. It's fun - the dogs just go off and do their own thing (except Lexi...she lays in front of us and waits for her ball to be thrown every so often.) There's a few times they get in the way and end up body blocking a frisbee throw, except not on purpose!

JAC is this weekend -- not sure if I want to go or not. Still trying to decide...

Half way through the week...

Had today off, which was totally nice. Slept in for awhile, then started cleaning house. The dogs were able to play outside for much of the afternoon until the sun decided to come out. Took down Lexi's crate and expanded the ex-pen. I put her in with Rainy - they're getting to be best-buds. So far, so good -- our only concern is Lexi jumping the ex-pen...but we'll see how she does.

This evening Robby and I went out to play with the dogs for about an hour. Threw the ball for Lexi and then got the frisbee out for Skye (that's her favorite.) She prances around with it until she decides otherwise. Robby and I ended up throwing it back and forth for awhile - that was fun. The dogs just went off and did their own thing.

Back to work tomorrow - have to start prepping for another auction (it's on Monday.) Seems I just slow down from one and we're picking back up with another, but that's what happens when they're every-other-week!

Sunday, July 26, 2009

Suuuuunday!

So today was pretty productive for the dogs. They each got 10 minutes of individual obedience lessons. Rainy and Cloud got crash beginner-courses on down and leave-it. They already knew sit, so we brushed up on that...and then come is a constant game, so a little brush up on that, too. Lexi worked on heeling, recalls with food distractions, left finishes, and down (I just like seeing her drop to the floor, lol) Skye got recalls with food distractions and then some games. Sonny had drop on recalls. After some lessons about not barging the door to come inside, they all came in for group sits.

Rainy got her first outing to PetSmart, too. She didn't like the car ride - but once we got to PetSmart she was very happy. At first, she became a pulling machine and wanted to check out everything! After about 5 minutes she settled into everything, realized I had cookies, and we just worked on basic sits and attention. She met a PetSmart employee and offered a few sits for treats. We walked around some more and finally left. Going to have to get her out in the car more - she's a little unsure of it. Doesn't mind loading and unloading, but just the ride freaks her out a little. No drooling, but just panting and shaking.

Pics

Rainy prancing through the backyard. We had to shave her rear just a little bit.
And Cloud.....all groomed up!

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

No more poodle...!

Cloud got shaved the rest of the day today. He and Rainy each got baths afterwards. He escaped from the ex-pen while we were running errands...still trying to figure out how! But, he just tore up two boxes and piddled in one spot. Everything else in the house was perfect. I'll put pics up later. Computer is going a little slow tonight...!

Saturday, July 4, 2009

Cloud's grooming, continued...!

Cloud's grooming moved into "phase 2" tonight! We got the rest of his back shaved, moved to his sides and chest, as well. Still have to do his ears, rear legs, and stomach. He's such a good dog. Just stands or sits there taking everything in without a fuss. He's had some ticks that hitch-hiked over from Kingfisher with them - but we had already treated him with Frontline, so no worries.
Rainy is the sweetest thing - her and Skye are very alike in temperaments.
Everyone is getting along great, still - gets better every day.

A Lesson in Dr. Seuss Terms

One Dog, plus
One Dog...Equals Two Dogs.Plus one grumpy old man equals three...
Plus two big white (errr...supposed to be white....) dogs equals FIVE?!

Yep.

Welcome "Rainy" and "Cloud" - two Great Pyrenees.

Rainy is 6 months old, Cloud is 8 months. They both came from a rural home up in Kingfisher who no longer wanted them since they took care of their coyote issue - their loss, our gain! Rainy got her bath yesterday, but still needs brushed out and probably bathed again. Cloud gets groomed tonight so hopefully he'll finally be white!

They're getting along great with everyone.

And no questions allowed ;)

Better pics tomorrow once they're presentable.
