Weekend!

So I got up and went to Hillcrest this morning - took care of statements and bunch of other stuff. Then I went down to see mom. We went to Freddy's for a burger and then to Tractor Supply to pick up bird seed. Came back to their house and we went shopping online for stuff for their new rescue GSD, Anya. They'll get her in a month or so after she finishes her heartworm treatment. She's such a cutie! Got home a little bit ago and put dogs out -- Lexi is beginning to stop scratching on the door as much, which is nice! I came home yesterday for lunch and did group sits with everyone -- they did really well. Lexi also played in the sprinkler and had a blast! She got Drew to start playing with her in the water. Sonny & Skye wouldn't have any part of it, though.

Thursday

So...we've had Lexi for a few days now. She is starting to fit in very nicely. Drew still doesn't like her, but we're working on the toy issue. I've already started working on her obedience. We've started watch me, sit, down, come with a front sit, and choose to heel. Sounds like a lot - but she was already fairly reliable on sit/down when we got her, so I'm just fine-tuning those two commands. I decided to name her Twister Passport to Paradise. She gets spayed on Wednesday and then next month, when she turns 6 months old, I'll send in her ILP papers. Initially she was whining a lot when she was in her crate, but she's settling down, didn't whine at all last night at bedtime. She's a very loving dog -- tries to jump up and give kisses, crawls all over us, and today after our training session I let her lay in my lap for awhile -- she just kind of rolled over on her back and relaxed. We gave her a bath yesterday. She wasn't crazy about that, and especially hated the dryer. Robby held her while I did her nails, too.

Had my interview at Moore Norman Tech this afternoon, too. I think it went well, but I didn't receive any kind of reaction from the two ladies who interviewed me. Nothing good, nothing bad -- they said I would know something this time next week. Let's hope! Sounds like something I would enjoy, and there is room for advancement.
Meanwhile...back at NRHA...(lol) Dennis (the COO) told me that I would be moving into his office next week and he would be moving into my little cubicle. Talk about shocking! He said it'd be for a couple months, ooook.

Lexi

Well - the little pup at the shelter was already adopted, but we had come across another dog...our '2nd choice.' Last night we went to pick her up! She is a 5 month old german shepherd bitch. Her coat is fluffy and medium length - not your typical GSD coat, but not an extreme long coat, either. Her original name was Josie, but I kept calling her Lexi for some reason, so we ended up changing it to Lexi and she caught on to it without a problem. We started work this afternoon on loading the clicker and "watch me." She catches on really quickly - so this should be fun! The dogs are starting to play with her -- Drew got a little possessive of his toys, but he eventually started playing with her in the backyard.

Back to work tomorrow...

Unfortunately, my extended weekend is over. Need to go back to work for another crappy week.

It was a relaxing weekend, but aggravating also. Then again, there were rewarding times as well. Crazy stuff...!

Robby and I talked and we agreed that after Drew is finished that I would stop showing in conformation and move into performance events. I'll still handle for some people if they want me to and I happen to be at the same show, but no more personally owning and keeping any conformation dogs. I'm excited about the change, but at the same time...it is change. Branching away from conformation after 10 years is going to be hard, but if I can get my husband involved in competitions, and he be happier, then I'll be happier.

I found a german shepherd at a local animal shelter. I'm going to call first thing tomorrow morning and see if she is available still. If so, then I'll run down on my lunch break to get her, then drop her off at Hillcrest on my way back for an exam and any shots she may still need. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, and realize that she could have already found a home, but I'm desperately wishing she's still available at the same time! The picture of her is absolutely adorable, she's a long coat, and looks still very much like a 5-6 month old puppy.

Anyhow -- just finished an agonizing day of homework, need to shower and get to bed I suppose. Hoping for a good week!

FINALLY!

Dad took me out to finally ride a horse today. It was a blast! I know he wasn't that happy because his horse wasn't anything near what his old show horse used to be, but I still had so much fun!

Waiting

Seems I'm always waiting right now. For responses back from people both at work and at home. For a new job. For Robby to get home!

I'm trying to secure a good Cardigan mentor, hopefully that will help. I need someone to go over dogs with me and teach me about the different lines.

Waiting on Robby to give the ok, but I intend on entering Drew at three different shows this fall, but only for a total of four days. Hopefully I can get him out and maybe a few more points on him. Edit.....so far, it's a no go. So much for getting Drew out, learning stuff, and starting my own line eventually. I'm about ready to throw in the towel.

That's all for now -- back to doing school work and stuff.

Whew!

Well it was a busy couple days. Yesterday Robby & I decided to go to the fair and walk around. We got out there around 10:30 before the crowds started in. First, right inside the gate, we went on this "Toyota Trails" thing -- O...M...G...! Robby drove a Toyota Tacoma (their truck) over this near obstacle course! Up a huge hill, thru a huge mud pit, over rocks, and around turns that put you at a 30 degree angle!! That was a little scary! Our pic will be online sometime shortly so I'll have to try and link it or something. Then we went up in the spaceneedle. That's the first time I've ever been up there (and it's how old?!) It was sooo cool! You could see all of Oklahoma City from above the fairgrounds! Came home later and Robby's dad picked Robby up and they went out in the Corvette. I went to Home Depot & Lowes. Bought some flower pots and flowers, they're so pretty! We're eventually going to put flag stone rocks out in the front flower bed with a bench instead of trying to do a garden out there. Just too big and too hard to control the weeds.

Today, I did not want to go to work...but Robby pushed me out of bed and I went. Of course, I sat in a meeting ALL day! 8:30-4:15 -- that didn't leave long to get all of my messages and stuff done, more to do tomorrow. Came home and mowed the yard since 1) it needed it, and 2) the bug guy is coming out tomorrow...yay! No more bugs!

Waiting on Robby to get off (seems I'm always doing that...!) and he's going to stop by on his way home and pick up the Corvette. We'll have it for a few days. He's off tomorrow so I think he's going to take me to work and pick me up, and then also take me to lunch. We may go to the fair again tomorrow after I get off.
